CEDAR HILLS, Utah (AP) - Ann Romney, the wife of former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, gave her praise to little-known GOP congressional candidate Stewart Peay.

Romney introduced the Salt Lake City Lawyer, Utah National Guard veteran and political newcomer Tuesday at a delegate meet and greet.

Romney said Peay, who is married to her niece, Misha, is “extraordinarily bright and capable.”

Meanwhile, candidate Tanner Ainge submitted 9,000 signatures to the lieutenant governor’s office Monday - 2,000 more than needed to make the Aug. 15 primary. Elections officials still must verify the names before placing Ainge on the ballot.

Ainge is the son of Boston Celtics president and former BYU basketball standout Danny Ainge.

Peay and Ainge are among 20 candidates vying to replace outgoing Rep. Jason Chaffetz, who is vacating his seat June 30.
