PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say the driver of a stolen sports car is dead after a high-speed police chase that ended in north Phoenix.

Phoenix police say an undercover officer intentionally crashed into the car they were pursuing Wednesday afternoon.

They say the driver was a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man in Ahwatukee Foothills earlier.

Police say officers at the scene fired their weapons, but it’s unclear if the man shot himself.

Officers received a call of a shooting around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex in the Ahwatukee Foothills, where a man was found with at least one gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the man in the stolen sports car matched the description of a possible suspect in the Ahwatukee Foothills homicide.
