PETAL, Miss. (AP) - A church in Petal is still cleaning the site of its second church to be destroyed by a tornado in four years, but the minister says they will rebuild there again.

The Rev. Carl Burkett tells The Hattiesburg American (https://hatne.ws/2mJgYSu ) that the Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church’s congregation is meeting temporarily at a church in Mosell.

Deacon Ernest Collins says the congregation is sticking together.

The church building was destroyed by a tornado in February 2013. The congregation had been in its new sanctuary less than a year when another twister hit Jan. 21, blowing out its windows and damaging the new pews and even shifting its foundation.

Church members got to work hours after the storm had passed, salvaging what they could.
