HEMET, Calif. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a 7-month-old girl at a Southern California daycare that appears to be unlicensed.

Police in Hemet say the child became unresponsive shortly after her parents dropped her off Monday morning. The girl was rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Lt. Eddie Pust says there was no obvious sign of trauma.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise newspaper (https://bit.ly/2nDcaBZ ) reports the state Department of Social Services received a complaint Tuesday about an unlicensed daycare. On Wednesday social services investigators visited the daycare, inside a home in Hemet, and a woman there agreed to stop providing daycare immediately.

Police and social services investigations are ongoing.
