DREXEL HILL, Pa. (AP) - An adult aide hired to help a special-needs middle school student has been arrested for bringing a gun and several rounds of ammunition to the suburban Philadelphia school.

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood says 32-year-old Domonique Jordan was charged Wednesday with possession of a firearm on school property.

Police were called to Drexel Hill Middle School after an assistant principal found a bullet in an employee bathroom.

He says Jordan told officers it was his bullet but denied having a weapon. A search of his bag revealed at .40-caliber Glock pistol with 17 live rounds in the magazine and two additional magazines.

He had a permit to carry a concealed weapon, but it’s illegal to have a gun in school.

No attorney information is available. Jordan is in the Delaware County Prison.
