AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - An Augusta teen accused of beating her father with a fire poker and a stick of firewood in a drunken rage was ordered held in lieu of bail by a Maine judge.

The Kennebec Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2m3EYQ5 ) 19-year-old Briana Rideout was arraigned Wednesday on charges of aggravated assault and violating conditions of release.

Police arrested Rideout on Tuesday after conducting an investigation stemming from a report that a badly beaten man was being treated at MaineGeneral Medical Center.

The investigation indicated that Rideout had been drinking prior to going to her father’s home in Randolph, where the two reportedly got into an argument over money.

Rideout was being held Thursday at the Kennebec County jail on $25,000 cash bail. It’s unclear if she’s retained a lawyer.
