HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) - Authorities in Massachusetts have released the name of a man who was fatally stabbed during a home invasion last week in Holyoke.
Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni says 45-year-old Carlos Ramos, of Holyoke, was killed Friday after the suspects kicked down a door and entered his home. Investigators believe the assailants went to the home to take back a piece of property the victim possessed.
Authorities say a police officer in the area heard screaming and saw a man running with a knife. That man and two other suspects were detained a short time later.
Holyoke residents Sammy Lozada, Jose Espada and Madeline Garcia have pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, armed home invasion and assault and battery. They’re due back in court on May 24.
