NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A judge has convicted a man of first-degree murder in the shooting death of another man on his suburban Philadelphia porch a few days before Christmas.
Seventy-two-year-old Leroy Clark pleaded guilty last week in Montgomery County to a general homicide charge in the Dec. 23 death of 73-year-old Robert Duncan in Abington Township.
Judge Steven T. O’Neill on ruled Monday that Clark was guilty of first-degree murder, which carries a mandatory sentence of life without possibility of parole.
Defense attorney Brian McMonagle argued for a guilty but mentally ill conviction, saying his client, a former Marine who served two tours of duty in Vietnam, had post-traumatic stress disorder and “snapped.”
District Attorney Kathleen McLaughlin said Clark “had every intention of killing” of the victim when he went to his home.
