Rep. Gregory Meeks called out Republicans leadership Monday for their silence over the developments in the investigation of the Trump campaign’s possible Russian ties.

“I’m talking about where is Mitch McConnell and the leadership in the Republican Party saying that they are going to step up to do the things that are necessary to push forward with an independent prosecutor,” Mr. Meeks, New York Democrat, said on CNN. “Let’s have some action in this regard.”

Mr. Meeks said it’s not enough to have one or two Republican senators come out and call for an independent prosecutor in the wake of former FBI Director James B. Comey’s firing, but the party as a whole needs to be more active in pressing this issue.

“I do have genuine concerns about the constitutional crisis we are in and the legitimate possibility of a cover up,” he tweeted over the weekend.
