MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - William Crest Jr. has had a change of heart and is returning to West Virginia’s football team for the 2017 season.

West Virginia football spokesman Mike Montoro tells The Dominion Post (https://bit.ly/2qoSlQl ) that Crest is back with the team as a wide receiver. Coach Dana Holgorsen had announced in January that Crest had decided to transfer.

Montoro says Crest stayed at WVU this spring as he mulled his options. The player then changed his mind about transferring. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Crest played in seven games in the 2016 season. He split time between quarterback, running back and special teams. He played in 11 games at quarterback and wide receiver in 2015.
