PERKASIE, Pa. (AP) - A suburban Philadelphia man charged in the fatal shooting of a romantic rival has pleaded guilty.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports (https://bit.ly/2qzPt3e ) 34-year-old Jeffrey Gould could be sentenced to 12 to 40 years in prison on the third-degree murder count in the July 2016 slaying of Edward Dubinsky.
Prosecutors say the men had quarreled over Zannatul Asha Naim, who had been sitting on Dubinsky’s lap on his home’s front porch when Gould approached with a gun. She and the victim had been in a long-term relationship before separating. During the separation, Naim moved in with Gould.
District Attorney Matthew Weintraub says emails revealed that Dubinsky and Gould had been taunting and insulting each other in the weeks leading up to the murder.
Gould’s attorney argued that the emails did not suggest intent to kill.
