ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities in South Carolina say a man who fired gunshots at an officer after refusing to pull over has been arrested.

The Independent Mail reports (https://bit.ly/2pTo9Ov ) 31-year-old Justin Kvalheim Babb was arrested Thursday afternoon on charges of attempted murder of a police officer and failure to stop for blue lights.

The Anderson County sheriff’s office says deputies attempted the traffic stop Wednesday night after spotting Babb driving a motorcycle with an improper license plate.

Babb fired shots at an officer while fleeing on foot. The deputy did not return fire and was not injured.

More than a dozen deputies searched the area with help from a K-9 unit and sheriff’s office helicopter. It’s unclear how Babb was found.

The investigation remains active.

It’s unclear if Babb has a lawyer.
