PITTSBURGH (AP) - A defense attorney says a western Pennsylvania man was acting in self-defense when he shot and killed another man and a woman at his Pittsburgh-area apartment a year ago.

Thirty-one-year-old Joshua Huber is charged with in Allegheny County with criminal homicide in the April 2016 deaths of 30-year-old Derek Schindler and his girlfriend, 22-year-old Melissa Zuk.

Allegheny County prosecutors are seeking a first-degree murder conviction in the shootings in Etna, which followed an argument as the three were drinking and smoking marijuana.

Defense attorney Michael Waltman told jurors that his client defended himself after he was attacked and it was “two against one.” He said the evidence would show that Huber was beaten, and after the shootings he called 911 and made no attempt to flee.
