SAN DIEGO (AP) - A federal jury has convicted a San Diego County man in the 2015 killing of his boyfriend, a wealthy Texas retiree.

Prosecutors said David Enrique Meza killed 51-year-old Jake Clyde Merendino over money. Meza stood to inherit the Texan’s $3 million estate plus a $270,000 oceanfront condominium in Rosarito, Mexico, where Merendino’s body was found.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports Tuesday (https://bit.ly/2pFyeNC) that jurors found the 26-year-old guilty of foreign murder of a U.S. national and conspiracy to obstruct justice

An accomplice, Taylor Langston, pleaded guilty in February to obstruction of justice for her role in the cover-up.

Prosecutors said Meza was in a relationship with Merendino while Langston was pregnant with Meza’s child.
