WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Police say a man accused of hitting a 1-year-old with his car before fleeing has been arrested.

New Castle County Police say 20-year-old Elijah Meredith has been charged with failure to report a collision resulting in an injury, among other things. He has been released on $800 unsecured bail.

Police say Meredith was leaving a home Friday when he struck and injured the child. Police say Meredith fled and was later taken into custody.

There was no number publicly listed for Meredith and it was not immediately clear Saturday whether he had an attorney.
