STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) - A Stone Mountain police officer and her son have been arrested after an alleged road rage incident involving a gun in Newton County.

WXIA-TV reports (https://on.11alive.com/2q7rnZS ) Randy Foster says he was headed to a gym May 13 when a woman cut him off and her son, who was in the passenger seat, pointed a gun at him.

Authorities ultimately were called and it was discovered that the driver of the car that followed Foster to the gym was Officer Diane Sinclair. She was arrested on a charge of reckless conduct. Her son faces charges of aggravated assault, pointing a pistol at another and possession of a pistol by a minor.

Police Chief Chancey Troutman say Sinclair has been placed on paid administrative leave pending outcome of an internal investigation.
