NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A 39-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting in North Charleston.

Police tell local media outlets Jobany Colon was arrested Friday and charged with murder.

Police spokesman Spencer Pryor says officers responded to reports of a shooting at around 11:30 Friday morning. While officers were on their way there, police say they learned a man had been taken to the hospital for gunshot wounds.

That man later died at the hospital. His name hasn’t been released.

Colon was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the violent commission of a crime.

He was being held awaiting a bond hearing on the murder charge, and it wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
