PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say one officer was injured and another had his baton stolen as they tried to disperse a mob of fighting high-schoolers near a Philadelphia train station, resulting in three arrests.

Philadelphia Police Inspector Ray Convery says two separate fights happened around the corner from each other in the northeastern part of the city shortly after school let out Monday.

In one fight, an officer was knocked to the ground and suffered a rib injury. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. Two students were arrested.

Around the corner, another student was arrested after an officer was able to retrieve his stolen baton.

Police have not said how the fights started.
