WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts judge has denied a woman’s request to dismiss a child abuse case against her.

The Telegram & Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/2qRDPiD ) that 23-year-old Alexandrea Chadwick, of Hardwick, and her boyfriend face charges of assault and battery on a child causing substantial bodily injury and other offenses. A judge dismissed a motion to dismiss Chadwick’s case Wednesday.

Chadwick and her boyfriend were arrested in 2015 after his son was hospitalized. The boy, who was 7 years old at the time, was malnourished and had several bruises on his body.

Chadwick’s attorney argues there’s not enough evidence to support the charges.

Prosecutors say there is enough evidence and that Chadwick was one of the child’s caretakers.

A trial date hasn’t been scheduled yet.
