MARTINEZ, Calif. (AP) - A former freshman football player at a San Francisco Bay Area high school was found in juvenile court to have sexually assaulted a girl from a nearby high school last year.

The East Bay Times reports (https://bayareane.ws/2qWmA1H) a judge found charges of rape and oral copulation true against the boy.

He was a freshman at a private all-boys school.

Police say the teen assaulted a 15-year-old girl after a November game.

In juvenile court there are no guilty or not guilty verdicts. The judge either “sustains” the petition, meaning he or she finds it true, or doesn’t sustain the petition

The Associated Press is not naming those involved in the case because they are minors.

The boy’s father has said the encounter was consensual.
