HARVEY, La. (AP) - A Louisiana married couple has been arrested after a baby suffered second-degree burns.

NOLA.com reports (https://bit.ly/2qfF89X ) Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested 20-year-old Denzel Davis and 23-year-old Jessica Davis on Saturday. The two are accused of intentionally scalding Jessica Davis’ 10-month-old son.

Staff at West Jefferson Medical Center contacted the Sheriff’s Office early Saturday after the couple brought the baby to the emergency room for treatment. Authorities say doctors determined the child had second-degree burns on four percent of his body, specifically his buttocks.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Col. John Fortunato says Denzel Davis, the baby’s adoptive father, was caring for the boy Friday night and later “admitted to cradling the child and dipping him into the hot bath water out of anger.”

It’s unclear if they have attorneys.
