Elizabeth Hokoana was charged with first-degree assault for shooting a 34-year-old protester in the abdomen. Her husband, Marc Hokoana, was charged with third-degree assault.

The shooting occurred during a January 20 protest over the appearance of right-wing speaker Milo Yiannopoulos.

In charging papers, King County prosecutors say “this shooting was not an impulsive act done in a moment of fear.”
