NEW YORK (AP) - Federal authorities say a Long Island couple has been found guilty of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars through their non-profit organization.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan says 60-year-old Kwame Insaidoo and 63-year-old Roxanna Pearson, both of Bay Shore, were convicted Tuesday of money laundering, conspiracy to commit mortgage fraud, wire fraud and embezzlement.
The Daily News reports (https://nydn.us/2pvQ6u8 ) that prosecutors say the married couple once ran a non-profit that received public funds for services as providing meals to senior citizens in New York City. Officials say the couple instead stole more than $500,000 and spent the money on mortgage payments, utility bills and a luxury vehicle.
