PALMDALE, Calif. (AP) - Officials say investigators have raided the home and office of the mayor of the Southern California city of Palmdale.

KCBS-TV reports (https://cbsloc.al/2pCP7bE) Los Angeles County prosecutors on Wednesday served search warrants at six locations.

Palmdale Councilman Austin Bishop tells the news station that Mayor Jim Ledford’s home and office were searched for several hours.

The district attorney’s office did not immediately say what the investigation is focusing on.

Ledford is in his 13th term as mayor of the city of about 150,000 in the Antelope Valley. With no term limits, he has served for 25 years.

A city spokesman said the mayor’s office is cooperating with the investigation.

Bishop says the mayor had two public events planned Wednesday but failed to show at either one.
