PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say an Arizona prison inmate serving a nearly 10-year sentence for drug violations has been found dead in his cell and suicide is suspected.
State Department of Corrections officials say it appears 42-year-old James Krauss died “from an apparent act of self-harm,” but they didn’t elaborate.
They say Krauss was found unresponsive in his cell at the state prison in Tucson on Thursday.
Corrections officials say Krauss was sentenced to prison in 2014 out of Gila County for dangerous drug violations and was serving a term of nine years and three months.
They say the death is being investigated by the Corrections Department in consultation with the Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office.
