WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A video of a Tuscola High School student’s assault on another student has been circulating on social media, although few details are available and no charges have yet been filed.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports (https://avlne.ws/2pdy9xP) that Haywood County Schools said in a release Thursday that the Wednesday morning assault lasted 20 seconds and inflicted serious physical injuries on the victim.

Haywood County Sheriff spokeswoman Linsay Regner said the sheriff’s office was investigating the incident, but would not provide information on specific injuries of details of the assault, citing the investigation. She said investigators are currently determining the appropriate charges.

Tuscola High School Principal Travis Collins says that both the assailant and student who filmed and transmitted the video will be disciplined.
