CENTREVILLE, Va. (AP) - A woman in Washington D.C.’s suburbs faces 10 days in jail after authorities say she crashed into a police chief’s car when she was driving while intoxicated.
Local news outlets report Christie A. Edgar pleaded guilty Wednesday to DWI when she hit the unmarked cruisier of Fairfax County’s police chief.
The Washington Post reports Fairfax County police say Edgar’s blood alcohol level was more than three times Virginia’s legal limit of 0.08 percent, when the Nissan SUV she drove collided with the back of Chief Edwin C. Roessler Jr.’s vehicle.
Roessler’s 2017 Ford Explorer was stopped at a red light about 8:40 p.m. Dec. 12 when it got rear-ended. He suffered minor injuries and was treated at a hospital.
