WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Wilmington Police are investigating three shootings within a span of a few hours that left one man dead and two injured.
An officer patrolling near Lancaster Avenue and Vanburen Street reported hearing several gunshots shortly before 8 p.m. Friday. The officer found a large crowd at the intersection of Second and Vanburen streets, as well as a 39-year-old man shot in the head and torso. He died later at Christiana Hospital.
Less than four hours later, officers patrolling near 24th & Lamotte streets heard gunshots and found a 26-year-man who had been shot in the leg.
The third shooting was reported about 1 a.m. Saturday. Police responded to the area of Beech and South Vanburen street and found a 30-year-old man on Porter Street suffering from gunshots to his legs.
