THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - A Lafourche Parish jail inmate and a woman are accused of trying to smuggle drugs and tobacco into the facility.
Sheriff’s deputies say 26-year-old Philip Green allegedly broke an exterior window April 30. Deputies found a string extending from the window to a sock that had been tangled in the razor wire on a perimeter fence. Inside the sock, authorities found several grams of suspected marijuana, smoking tobacco and a disposable lighter.
WVUE-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2qODQT3 ) Green was in jail facing various charges. He now faces more charges for attempted possession of marijuana, taking contraband to a penal institution and simple criminal damage to property.
Nineteen-year-old Deja Smith was arrested Wednesday for principal to distribution of marijuana and taking contraband to a penal institution. She was released after posting $10,000 bond.
