MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama State Bar has inducted five new members into the Alabama Lawyers Hall of Fame.

The honorees include Lister Hill; William B. Bankhead; John Thomas King; J. Russell McElroy and George Washington Stone. All five men are deceased.

The five were recognized Friday in Montgomery.

Hill was a Montgomery attorney who served 30 years in the U.S. Senate ending in 1968. Bankhead practiced law in Jasper and served 24 years in Congress.

King was a Birmingham attorney who served in the Alabama Senate and helped change the city’s form of government.

McElroy served as a circuit judge in Birmingham for 50 years and taught law school. Stone was a Virginia native who served nearly three decades on the Alabama Supreme Court before his death in 1894.
