BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Construction is underway at the University of Vermont in Burlington on a new building for the business school.

A ground breaking ceremony for Ifshin Hall was held Friday.

The building, named for Steve Ifshin, of the UVM class of 1958, is designed to provide capacity and resources for the Grossman School of Business while increasing student opportunity.

The University of Vermont Foundation announced Ifshin’s $1.75 million donation for the project last fall. The total project is expected to cost $11 million.

Ifshin, who attended UVM on a basketball scholarship and spent half a century in the real estate industry, was a member of the Grossman School’s board of advisers and the board of directors of the UVM Foundation. He died late last year.
