NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A man who admitted shooting another man in the back during a confrontation outside a strip club has been sentenced to 20 years in state prison.

Essex County prosecutors say Yanafi Mojica must serve nearly 18 years before he becomes eligible for parole under the sentence imposed Friday. The 33-year-old Elizabeth man initially faced murder and weapons charges but pleaded guilty in February to an aggravated manslaughter count.

Prosecutors say Mojica and two other men were involved in argument with Michael Williams II at the Belleville club in October 2015. The 28-year-old Newark man was shot in the back as he tried to run away.

Authorities have not said what sparked the argument that led to the fatal shooting.
