BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) - An upstate New York man who drove off after fatally striking a college student from New York City has pleaded guilty.

The Press and Sun Bulletin reports (https://press.sn/2qT3fei ) that 26-year-old Aizaz Siddiqui, of Binghamton, pleaded guilty last Friday to leaving the scene of an accident. He faces up to a year in jail.

Police say Siddiqui struck 20-year-old Binghamton University student Stefani Lineva, of Queens, early on the morning of Dec. 3. Investigators say Lineva was walking along a section of state Route 434 that’s prohibited for pedestrian use when she was hit.

Police say Siddiqui then left the scene of the crash without alerting authorities.

Prosecutors say there are more people who are responsible for the accident and that the investigation isn’t closed.

Siddiqui will be sentenced Aug. 4.
