Police: 12-year-old NYC boy shot while playing outside

NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a 12-year-old boy in New York has been shot in the leg while playing outside with his friends.

Police say Michael Andrews was shot around 10 p.m. Monday, and tried to walk home with help from his friends.

After arriving at his apartment complex in Brooklyn, authorities say someone called 911 and medics arrived to take Andrews to a local hospital, where he’s in serious but stable condition.

An employee of the apartment complex told the Daily News that the boy lives in the building with his grandmother and is a “regular 12-year-old boy.”

Police are working to determine if Andrews was shot by accident or intentionally. There’s no word on any possible suspects.
