UNION, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a man found dead inside his burning home was fatally stabbed by his adult son.

Union County prosecutors say Jeff Adams is facing murder and weapons charges. The 20-year-old Union Township man could face life in prison if convicted, and it wasn’t known Tuesday if he has retained an attorney.

Emergency responders found the body of 59-year-old Michael Adams inside the family home on Monday. Jeff Adams turned himself in a short time later and authorities say he will remain jailed at least until a court hearing later this week.

A motive for the stabbing has not been disclosed.

No other injuries were reported in the fire. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
