NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A Louisiana man has been sentenced to nine months in prison for throwing a rock through the window of a Social Security Administration office.
Acting U.S. Attorney Duane Evans says in a news release that the sentence was handed down Wednesday for 38-year-old Bobby Joseph Hammond of Metairie.
Hammond had pleaded guilty to a charge of destruction of government property.
The incident happened March 4. Prosecutors said Hammond drove up to a Social Security Administration office in Kenner, got out of his car, threw a rock through a second floor window, then drove away.
People who knew Hammond identified him when they saw a video recording of the incident.
In addition to prison time, Hammond was ordered to pay more than $1,300 in restitution for the damage caused.
