PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police say a man wanted for violating probation is facing new charges after allegedly ramming a police vehicle during a traffic stop.

Authorities say Lamount Potter Jr. of Crisfield was a passenger in a truck pulled over Wednesday in Princess Anne. Investigators say Lashae Smith tried to drive the truck around several police vehicles before reversing and striking one. Police say Smith got out of the truck and Potter hit the gas, deliberately ramming another police vehicle as he fled.

Potter was located early Thursday at a hotel in Salisbury.

He’s charged with assault, resisting arrest and violation of probation.

Smith is charged with assault, reckless endangerment and destroying property.

It was not immediately clear whether they have lawyers.
