MINOT, N.D. (AP) - A New Town couple accused of smoking oxycodone with their 1- and 2-year-old children beside them in a vehicle has been sentenced to 30 days in jail.
The Minot Daily News reports that 27-year-old Dave Whitetail and 23-year-old Serena Thomas pleaded guilty to five charges, including possession of oxycodone and child neglect.
Authorities say the incident happened in November 2015 in the Minot Walmart parking lot.
Judge Doug Mattson sentenced the couple to two years in prison, with a requirement they serve 30 days. The judge ordered Whitetail and Thomas to take a parenting class and obtain a chemical dependency evaluation.
