President Trump tweeted his support for Saudi Arabia’s leadership Monday night amid a purge in the royal family that is sending shock waves through the Middle East.

“I have great confidence in King Salman and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, they know exactly what they are doing,” Mr. Trump said on Twitter. “Some of those they are harshly treating have been ‘milking’ their country for years!”

Over the weekend, 11 members of the Saudi royal family and top advisers were arrested in what authorities described as a crackdown against corruption. Foreign-policy analysts say it’s an effort by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, 32, to consolidate power.
