BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - An upstate New York pastor is planning active shooter training for his church following the weekend shooting that left 26 worshippers dead in Texas.

Darius Pridgen posted the idea on social media Sunday evening and says other church leaders are now interested in the idea.

Pridgen is pastor of Buffalo’s True Bethel Baptist Church, and also is the president of Buffalo’s Common Council.

He says Buffalo police SWAT team instructors will facilitate additional training in his district.

Authorities say Devin Patrick Kelley opened fire during a Sunday service at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas, killing 26 people and wounding about 20 others.
