WASHINGTON, N.C. (AP) - The N.C. Highway Patrol says a man who was out of jail on bond was killed when a car hit him as he walked down a road.

WITN in Greenville reports the patrol said 19-year-old Bradford Jones Jr. was walking on N.C. Highway 33 with his back to traffic near Chocowinity on Saturday when a car hit him and knocked him off the road. According to the patrol, the man was wearing dark clothing when the accident happened.

The patrol said Jones had bonded out of jail on a resisting arrest charge.

Troopers said they don’t expect to file charges against the driver of the car that hit Jones.
