NEW YORK (AP) - Vancouver Canucks defenseman Erik Gudbranson has been suspended for one game without pay for his hit from behind on Boston Bruins forward Frank Vatrano.
Gudbranson hit Vatrano from behind at 6:13 of the first period of Vancouver’s game at Boston on Thursday night.
The Canucks blue-liner also received a game misconduct and a fighting major after being challenged by Boston’s Tim Schaller following the hit.
The Bruins capitalized on the man advantage, scoring three power-play goals for a 4-1 lead after the first period. Boston won the game 6-3.
Gudbranson will forfeit $18,817.20 in salary and will miss Vancouver’s game Friday at Buffalo.
