SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Kearns couple wanted on allegations of child abuse has been arrested.
Authorities say 34-year-old Steven Gene Durrant and 18-year-old Many Jean Barbour have been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail and are scheduled to make their initial court appearances Tuesday.
It was unclear Sunday if either has a lawyer.
The Deseret News reports Durrant and Barbour were charged Oct. 11 in 3rd District Court with child abuse inflicting serious injury, endangerment of a child and child abuse.
Detectives from the U.S. Marshal’s Office arrested the couple Friday.
According to charging documents, Durrant and Barbour were staying at another person’s house along with two children, ages 8 and 1.
The homeowner told authorities the 8-year-old boy was malnourished and had black eyes and a swollen face from alleged beatings.
