CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) - An inmate at the St. Louis County Justice Center is dead after being found unresponsive.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 43-year-old Bryan Peiffer was found shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday. An autopsy performed Wednesday showed no clear cause of death. Officials are awaiting toxicology results that could take up to 12 weeks.
Pfeiffer was arrested Tuesday on a felony warrant out of Franklin County. He had been in a general holding area for several hours, awaiting extradition to Franklin County.
Paramedics tried unsuccessfully to revive Peiffer, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
