LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas firefighters are battling a large, smoky blaze at the vacant Moulin Rouge apartment building.

Fire officials said the fire started early Thursday morning and spread quickly through the two-story concrete-block building. Crews found heavy flames and smoke when they arrived.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski says crews have the fire under control, but it will likely take hours to fully extinguish the flames.

The blaze also forced closures on Bonanza Road.

The cause is under investigation.
