LAUREL, Miss. (AP) - Two Mississippi men are accused of conspiring to defraud customers and financial institutions in what is being called one of the largest fraud investigations in Jones County.

The sheriff’s department says 60-year-old Perry Taylor and 33-year-old Casey Pitts have been arrested on charges of racketeering and conspiracy to commit fraud through the sale of cars at Southeastern Auto Sales, LLC in Laurel. It was unknown if either man has an attorney.

WDAM-TV reports the sheriff’s department has received about 100 complaints from people who purchased a car at the lot. Lt. Robert Little says authorities are investigating activity including falsifying bills of sales and title documents; failing to submit title information to required state agencies and financial institutions, and misleading customers regarding whether vehicles they purchased had existing liens.
