WELLS, Maine (AP) - A former U.S. Small Business Administration official is part of a team working to expand Maine’s Village Candle.

Jeanne Hulit served as acting administrator for the SBA on former Democratic President Barack Obama’s Cabinet before going to work for Northeast Bank.

Hulit says she is looking forward to helping the company expand beyond North America.

Company founder Paul Aldrich says the new management team will help grow the 24-year-old company into new home-fragrance markets.

The company recently shipped more than 40,000 pounds of candles to Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Florida and Texas to aid after hurricanes.
