New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. participated in individual drills during practice Thursday for the first time since suffering an ankle injury in the preseason.

Beckham also ran routes at “not high speed” and took some mental reps at the end of practice, according to the Associated Press. ESPN said Beckham revealed on Thursday that it was a 6-8 week injury.

Beckham, who hurt his ankle against the Cleveland Browns on Aug. 21, missed the Giants‘ first game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Giants managed just three points Sunday and quarterback Eli Manning struggled without his top wideout.

Beckham had 101 receptions for 1,367 yards and 10 touchdowns last year.

The Giants play the Detroit Lions in Week 2 on “Monday Night Football.” Beckham’s status for the game is currently unknown.
