MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Montgomery police have charged a man with murder in what they describe as a deadly attack with a machete.

A police spokeswoman says 45-year-old Kenyatta Davis of Montgomery is charged in the slaying of 56-year-old Jerome Nowden.

Federal marshals arrested Davis on Thursday. Court records show Davis doesn’t yet have a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.

Officials say Nowden showed up at a hospital after being attacked with a machete on Aug. 16. His injuries weren’t initially believed to be life-threatening, but he died a week later.

Police suspect the attack occurred during an argument between the two men.

Davis is jailed with bond set at $150,000.
