SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) - An Idaho judge set bail for the two men accused of shooting at two 13-year-olds, striking one on the leg.

The men, 42-year-old Leo Inwood and 52-year-old Eric Wood, appeared in court on Thursday where the judge ordered the men to be held on bail set at $30,000 each, the Bonner County Daily Bee reported (https://bit.ly/2wgonT0 ).

Authorities said Wood with Inwood present fired a handgun and a shotgun at the teenagers who were fishing near Priest River on Tuesday. A bullet struck a teen on the leg as the two were fleeing on a motor scooter. The injured teen was treated at a hospital and released.

Court documents indicated that Wood told police investigators he was intoxicated when the shooting occurred and that he was unaware he was firing at the teens and the scooter. A burglary conviction from 1997 prohibits Wood from possessing a firearm.

The documents stated that Inwood acknowledged to authorities he was present when the shots were fired but he did not fire the guns.

Both men are facing two felony charges and one misdemeanor charge.

Deputy Public Defender Luke Hagelberg asked the judge to release Inwood on a personal recognizance bond.

Bonner County Deputy Prosecutor Valerie Fenton argued against the request.

“These allegations are very serious,” Fenton said. “We’re talking about a juvenile who was struck by a bullet.”

The judge granted the request for the misdemeanor charge against Inwood, but bail was imposed for the felony charges.
